The Comforting Message of the Resurrection
I listened to a message by Charles Stanley and shared the information with Brandon & Laura after Ryan’s death. It is definitely worth repeating.
The Comforting Message of the Resurrection
I Cor. 15:35 But some man will say, “How are the dead raised up? And with what body do they come?”
Charles Stanley explained that we will have a body like Jesus’ ascended body, transformed into the likeness of the Son. No more aging, changing…how can you change perfection? (We are going to look fantastic! God will give us this glorified body.) We will be a “living trophy” of the grace of God.
Phil. 3:21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto His glorious body…
Glorified…we are living in these bodies with the problems that we live with every day. He placed them in the past tense because that is how he sees us…glorified! Glorified… that moment in time at death, when we pass from death to life, we are changed…made absolutely perfect.
We still fail, make mistakes. We are in a battle. Our battle ends when we take our last breath & he takes us home! The battle will then be over. The grave can’t keep us.
Ryan and Brandon now have absolutely perfect bodies. The Bible says their bodies are “fashioned like unto His glorious body…body of Christ. You can’t get any better than that!
There are 2 other messages that are worth mentioning. I remember a message preached by Jeff Dunn several years ago. He entitled his message “Bitter or Better.” We all have choices in our lives, even as Christians. We can consciously choose to allow our troubles, even our hurt, to make us into a better person. We can also allow those things in our lives to make us bitter. The choice is ours.
The other message was based on the thought of “ending well.” No matter how we begin a project, the most important factor is how we finish. How many politicians achieved great things, only to leave office in disgrace and scandal? There are a number of biblical characters that fit in this message as well. I thank God that He helped our sons to “end well.” Though their lives on earth ended, they were welcomed with open arms by people who loved them.
